Long-Stream Apparatuses
Long-stream apparatuses by SDK are specialist devices designed for fish egg incubation and later fry rearing. They are used in hatcheries, fish farms and aquaculture facilities where stable water flow, cleanliness and safe conditions for developing eggs are essential.
The apparatuses are made of GRP laminate, perforated aluminium or stainless steel sheet and PVC pipes. This construction is prepared for continuous contact with water and for everyday use in hatchery conditions.
SDK long-stream apparatuses are manufactured in 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 7-box versions. A complete apparatus consists of incubation boxes, two gates with perforated mesh and one basin. The first gate is placed on the water inlet side and helps reduce air bubbles in the incoming water, while the second gate works on the outlet pipe side.
Long-Stream Apparatuses for Fish Egg Incubation
During fish egg incubation, correct and even water movement is very important. The boxes in SDK apparatuses are well fitted to the inner part of the basin, which supports proper water flow through the working section and helps maintain correct incubation conditions.
The internal surface of the basin is smooth and glossy. This makes cleaning easier, reduces the accumulation of impurities and speeds up washing after the cycle is finished. This is especially important in hatcheries, where hygiene has a direct impact on egg and fry safety.
After the incubation stage, the basin can also be used for fry rearing. This means that the long-stream apparatus is not only used for one stage of the process, but can also support further hatchery work.
Construction of the SDK Long-Stream Apparatus
A complete apparatus consists of:
- 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7 incubation boxes, depending on the selected version,
- a gate with perforated mesh on the water inlet side,
- a gate with perforated mesh on the outlet pipe side,
- a basin made of GRP laminate,
- elements made of perforated aluminium or stainless steel sheet,
- PVC pipes matched to the apparatus construction.
The inlet-side gate helps reduce air bubbles in the incoming water. This supports calmer water movement and correct flow through the incubation boxes. The second gate works on the outlet side and helps control the flow in the working section of the apparatus.

The SDK range includes 2-, 3-, 4- and 7-box models shown in the table. A 5-box apparatus can also be prepared on individual request, according to hatchery needs and available working space.

Convenient Transport and Storage
SDK long-stream apparatuses are designed so that the basins can be placed one inside another. This makes it easier to transport more units and reduces the space required for storage when the apparatuses are not in use.
This is important for fish farms and hatcheries that work seasonally or use the apparatuses only at specific production stages. Economical transport and storage help organize the working area more efficiently.
Long-Stream Apparatuses as Part of a Hatchery
Long-stream apparatuses can be part of broader hatchery and fish farm equipment. Depending on the facility layout, they can work with water supply systems, equipment improving oxygen conditions and tanks used at later fry rearing stages.
When developing a hatchery or fish farming facility, it is also worth checking basins for initial and main breeding, which can be used after the incubation and hatching stage. In facilities operating with recirculating water, biological filters can also support biological filtration.
If the installation requires additional aeration, properly selected air compressors for water aeration and diffusers for distributing air or oxygen can be used.
