Basins for Initial and Main Breeding

Basins for initial and main breeding by SDK are specialist tanks designed for fish farms, hatcheries and aquaculture facilities. Their purpose is to provide convenient daily work during initial breeding, holding and fish farming, while maintaining cleanliness and proper water exchange.

The basins are made of polyester-glass laminate, with the possibility of using stainless steel elements, aluminium, PVC pipes and fittings, hot-dip galvanized steel or impregnated wood. The selection of materials and construction depends on the place of operation, method of use and requirements of the water installation.

The shape of the basins is designed to make maximum use of the area intended for fish breeding and, at the same time, to reduce the formation of dead, unproductive zones. This is especially important at low water flows, where proper water movement affects the cleanliness of the tank and the comfort of daily operation.

Basins for Initial and Main Breeding with Self-Cleaning Function

All SDK basins can work as self-cleaning tanks, even with a low rotational water flow. Dead fish and larger impurities are retained on the outflow grate, so they can be removed quickly without the need to empty the entire tank.

The working part of the basin, meaning its internal surface, is smooth and glossy. This makes it easier to maintain cleanliness, reduces the accumulation of impurities and speeds up washing after the breeding cycle. The bottoms of the basins are made with a slope, which allows complete water drainage.

3 Outflow Systems and Water Level Regulation

In SDK basins for initial and main breeding, one or two of three systems for water discharge, water level regulation and water exchange can be used. The choice of solution depends on the type of facility, basin size, breeding intensity and the required number of water exchanges per unit of time.

Outflows are made of PVC pipes with diameters from 50 to 250 mm, depending on the installation requirements. The outflow grate can be made of stainless steel sheet or aluminium, and the diameter and shape of the openings can be adapted to the requirements of the order.

For more advanced installations, the basins can be connected with dedicated outflow systems, which help control the water level, flow and removal of impurities.

For Open and Closed Water Circuits

Basins for initial and main breeding can operate in both open and closed water circuit fish farming systems. Each basin can be equipped with an emergency water overflow located below the upper edge. This solution increases operational safety and helps protect the facility against uncontrolled overflow.

The edges of the basins are rounded and folded down. This makes them comfortable to use, safer for the operator and, at the same time, strengthens the entire construction. The base can be made of hot-dip galvanized steel legs, wood or laminate. The height of the legs is selected according to the intended use of the basin and the customer’s needs.

The basins can be placed one inside another, which makes transport and storage easier when they are not in use. This is especially important for farms that need several or even a dozen tanks seasonally.

Selecting the Basin Shape for the Fish Farm

SDK manufactures basins for initial and main breeding in various shapes, so the tank can be adapted to the type of production, available space and method of water flow. Depending on the needs, the customer can choose square, round, rectangular or conical-bottom solutions.

Available solutions include square basins for fish breeding SDK ST, round basins for fish breeding SDK RT, rectangular basins for fish breeding SDK RE and round basins with conical bottom SDK CT.

If additional aeration or oxygenation is required in the facility, the basins can work with oxygen installations. For such applications, it is possible to use, among others, ceramic diffusers for aeration and oxygenation of water.
